Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority announces updates to board of directors

The Board of Directors of the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority (DWCPA) has announced the election of Shannon Price as Chairman and Jonathan C. Kinloch as Vice Chairman. Price replaces Lorron James, who was first elected to the position in June 2016 and stepped down from the board in May 2018. Kinloch replaces Fred Hoffman, who continues to serve as a board member.

“I am very honored to have been elected by my fellow board members to serve as chairman of the DWCPA Board of Directors,” said Price. “During my nearly six months on the board, I have been a part of a number of very promising conversations involving the future of this vital agency. I look forward to continuing the work that’s already being done and doing whatever I can to help advance the agency’s mission.”

Price joined the board in April 2018 for a four-year term, replacing the Honorable Alisha Bell, who had served since 2012. He has worked with nonprofit organizations and local municipalities, where he has a proven track record in developing and implementing a variety of initiatives. Prior to this work, Price performed constituent relations for the attorney general’s office for both Mike Cox and Bill Schuette.

Price has also served as an elected official serving as a Wayne County Commissioner from 2013-15 and Plymouth Township Supervisor from 2015-16. In both of these roles, he was responsible for developing and managing multimillion-dollar budgets, economic development and collaborating with neighboring communities.

The DWCPA Board of Directors also unanimously approved the appointment of Jonathan C. Kinloch as Vice Chairman. Kinloch joined the board in 2014 and has been engaged in Detroit’s social and civic community for more than 20 years. He previously served as Vice Chairman from May 2014 to June 2016.

“It is a privilege to once again be elected to this position, which I will use to continue championing the work being done by the DWCPA to strengthen the region,” said Kinloch. “I look forward to working closely with Shannon and the entire board to provide the necessary leadership to help guide and support the agency’s operations.”

The five-member DWCPA Board of Directors also includes Bryan Powell, who serves as Secretary-Treasurer, and a future appointee who has yet to be determined.
