Erich Luedtke passes

Erich Robert Luedtke, 82, of Frankfort, Michigan died April 6. Erich was born to Elroy “Duke” and Lucille Luedtke in Frankfort, Michigan March 20, 1934. He was united in marriage to Joan Ruth (Shaft) Luedtke in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin June 23, 1956. 

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin in 1957, he joined the family business in Frankfort, the Luedtke Engineering Company. The company experienced long-term stability and growth by completing significant marine construction and dredging jobs throughout the Great Lakes. Erich retired in 1998 and Luedtke Engineering Company is now operated by his nephews, Kurt and Paul Luedtke.

Erich lived a life of dedication to his family and community. He was well-loved for his quick wit and sense of humor. He was an active community leader and devoted church member. 

He is survived by his wife, Joan Luedtke of Frankfort; daughter, Mary Sue (Mark) Hoffman of Kalamazoo; sister Gretchen (Bruce) Bieneman and children, Kirke and Lynne; sister-in-law Sue Luedtke and children, Kurt, Paul, Alan and Ann. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Karl Luedtke; son, Chris Luedtke; and grandson, Christopher Luedtke.

The funeral service was held April 12.
