GLMRIS announces Brandon Road public meetings

In order to facilitate discussion of the recently released Great Lakes and Mississippi River Interbasin Study-Brandon Road (GLMRIS) draft report, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has scheduled three public meetings with locations in Chicago, Illinois; Muskegon, Michigan; and Joliet, Illinois. From the start of each meeting until the scheduled time for opening remarks, GLMRIS team members will be available in person for an open house format including one-on-one discussions about the study. Online participants should plan to join the conference call, webinar and Facebook Live events shortly before opening remarks begin.

During the meetings, the Corps will provide a presentation on the tentatively selected plan that includes structural and nonstructural measures and technologies for preventing upstream transfer of aquatic nuisance species, such as Asian carp, at Brandon Road Lock and Dam on the Illinois Waterway.

The meetings will be held:

  • In Chicago – 1-5 p.m. CDT Monday, September 11, with opening remarks beginning at 2:40 p.m.
  • In Muskegon – 3:30-6:30 p.m. EDT Thursday, September 14, with opening remarks beginning at 4:10 p.m.
  • In Joliet – 3:30-6:30 p.m. CDT Monday, September 18, with opening remarks beginning at 4:10 p.m.

An oral comment period will follow the presentation. The Corps will also accept written comments during the meetings.
