Maritime history conference to be held in September

The Association for Great Lakes Maritime History will hold its Annual Meeting and Maritime History Conference Thursday-Saturday, September 8-10 at the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary’s Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center in Alpena, Michigan.

Jeff Gray, Superintendent of the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, will provide the keynote address. Gray will take a detailed look at popular marine sanctuary and shipwreck preserves within communities of Northeast Michigan, with respect to local and visitor engagement, tourism and sociocultural impacts.
