McKeil Marine announces changes at the helm

McKeil Marine Limited announces that Steve Fletcher is retiring from his position as President and CEO. He joined McKeil Marine in 1999 and has been instrumental in the company’s growth.

“Steve has played a key role in setting the strategic direction for the business that has empowered McKeil to become a significant player in the Great Lakes transportation industry,” says Vice Chairman Blair McKeil. “We wouldn’t be here today without him.”

Blair McKeil is joined by the entire Board of Directors and shareholders of McKeil Marine to thank Fletcher for his years of hard work and dedicated service and wish him many happy years in his retirement.

Moving into the position of President is Scott Bravener, who officially assumes this role today, March 18, 2019. Bravener comes to McKeil after an impressive career of more than 30 years in the maritime industry. He was the founder of Lower Lakes Towing Ltd., which started in 1994 and grew under his leadership to own and operate, along with its U.S. affiliate Grand River Navigation Company, a fleet of 16 dry-bulk vessels.

Bravener was most recently Co-president and Chief Operating Officer of Rand Logistics Inc., the parent company of these two companies. In 2013, he was selected as Great Lakes “Maritime Man of the Year” and inducted into the Great Lakes Marine Hall of Fame.

“Scott recognizes McKeil’s position as a leading, innovative marine services provider and shares our passion for the maritime transportation and projects business,” adds Blair McKeil. “We are confident that he and the McKeil Marine team will lead this company on to continued growth and success while retaining the family culture that makes us who we are. I’m excited about the future for all of us at McKeil.”
